It may not be spring but that isn't stopping a team of determined business people in the Bay joining forces to give the town a bit of a clean up.

As the summer season has come to a close, Colwyn Business Zone and its members are aiming to work through the area on a giant litter pick and brush up to help restore the town back to it's once tidy self.

Operation Sparkle is headed by Mark Clemson and his bid to garner support has been wholeheartedly supported by many businesses both small and large in the town. The clean up is happening today (Thursday 7th Nov).

An invitation is also going out to voluntary and community groups to get involved for a few hours between 11am and 2pm.

Pete Fisher who volunteers at Bayside said that it was encouraging that so many people were keen to get involved. "We have just had great success with Colwyn in Bloom with the town picking up a Gold Award and it makes sense for us to do our utmost to keep the town centre tidy too.

"I know of many parts of the town which are dumping grounds for rubbish and its spoiling the efforts of everyone to make our community a nice place to live and shop. A tidy town is a positive town and it helps give people confidence and pride".

Operation Sparkle has received the support of local councillors and have had offers of litter pickers and workwear to assist volunteers in their task.

If you are interested in being involved please head over to their Facebook page for more details and to show your support.
