North Wales Police are partnering with communities and businesses to minimise crime, and catch and convict offenders who commit burglary, robbery, theft and vehicle crime.
Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman said: “I'm really proud that we’re able to launch ‘We Don't Buy Crime’ here in North Wales.
“It’s a really important initiative. It's proven, it works. It will reduce crime across North Wales in those areas that really damage our communities, those of acquisitive crime.”
North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin said: “I am delighted to see the roll-out of We Don’t Buy Crime, which has the potential to be a game-changer in the fight against crime in North Wales.
“I would like to congratulate the Chief Constable and the policing team behind it for their efforts in launching the campaign in our region. As Police and Crime Commissioner, I have made delivering safer neighbourhoods and supporting victims and communities cornerstones of my Police and Crime Plan.
“I am therefore very pleased to see information and technology being delivered to residents, in both urban and rural areas of North Wales, that will hopefully make them safer, protect their property, discourage criminals from committing offences here, and improve the visibility of policing.
“For example, this information could include household packs for residents on how to make their property more secure, practical measures such as signage and warnings, and DNA SmartWater technology to protect and mark farming and other high-value equipment.
“I am pleased to see that overall reported crime is down in North Wales, particularly burglary and I am hopeful that all of these measures combined will help deter criminals and tell them straight that here in North Wales we’ll do all we can to stop them in their tracks and protect the public.”
