Llandudno is set to receive 20 million pounds in government cash over the next 10 years to help support areas of the town struggling with deprivation and disadvantage.

Conwy Council has received funding from the UK Government's Pride in Place Programme, and last night councillors approved funding for communities in the town.

Following this announcement, Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, said:

“I am delighted that a neighbourhood in Llandudno has been put forward for Pride of Place Programme funding. This means that up to £20 million in total, including £13 million in capital and £7 million in revenue, will be made available over ten years to improve the area.

“The neighbourhood includes Mostyn 2, Tudno 1 and Tudno 2. These areas have been classed as Lower Super Output Areas, with Tudno 2 being classed as the most deprived area in Conwy.

“I would also like to thank Councillor Harry Saville, who not only supported the call for this funding but also pushed for the neighbourhood to be extended to include Mostyn 1, which was unfortunately not adopted by the Cabinet.

As a result, Kings Avenue, Ffordd Dulyn and Kings Drive will have the opportunity to directly benefit from the investment, while Kings Road, Alexandra Road, Cae Mawr and Fairways will not.

“While this funding is a fantastic opportunity for Llandudno, we must ensure that it is properly utilised in a way that works for the community and delivers tangible benefits.

“I am looking forward to be a Member of the Advisory Board, as the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy.”
