Former Ysgol John Bright Llandudno pupils will be attempting to complete 50 Golf Holes in a day to raise funds for their local adult hospice.
This Friday, Adrian Owen, Chris Curry and Simon Neville will be covering five local courses across the county of Conwy, playing golf for twelve hours. All three turned 50 in 2020 and had planned to take part in the challenge last year as a celebration. But due to covid restrictions and a foot injury Adrian sustained, it was postponed for twelve months.
Adrian is the Conwy Area Fundraiser for St David’s Hospice and has been inspired by the overwhelming support and fundraising activities he has witnessed by local people for the charity.
He said: “In my role I see the fantastic support the community give to St David’s Hospice and how the funds raised are used to provide care to both patients and their families.
“I’m really looking forward to the day! We just thought we’d do something different for our 50th birthdays. I’ve known Chris since nursery, and I’ve known Simon since Ysgol John Bright, and we used to play junior golf as well when we were younger.
“We will be starting at 8.00am at North Wales Golf Club where we will play 12 holes, followed by 18 holes at the Great Orme, four holes at Maesdu on to Rhos on Sea for six holes, we’re aiming for Old Colwyn for nine at about 5pm, after which we’ll return to Rhos on Sea to play our 50th Hole, the 18th Island Green hole.
“I’ve been getting back out there practicing; fingers crossed my ball doesn’t end up in the water once we get to the last hole in Rhos!
”We are also hoping to have a few fundraising competitions at Rhos on Sea from 3pm onwards and welcome all to come and take part.”
“Hopefully we can raise much as much as possible whilst having a bit of fun along the way.”
