A helping hand for families touched by childhood cancer

January 23, 2020 - 865 views

A North West charity which has recently expanded into Colwyn Bay is welcoming all families touched by the blight of childhood cancer to their family support drop in sessions.

The Joshua Tree which has a base in Cheshire and a North Wales hub at Penrhos Manor on Oak Drive in the Bay is hosting the informal sessions every Monday between 10.30 and 11.30am.

Support is offered to all family members, including siblings and grandparents, and close family friends. Experiencing childhood cancer can leave many families facing a number of uncertainties and emotions.

Adapting to post-treatment can be scary, lonely, difficult and overwhelming. Peer support, distraction activities and a listening ear can be vital during these times.

On Monday family support workers from The Joshua Tree often meet up with individual members of the family to provide a listening ear over a coffee. This can happen at the Centre, Alder Hey or in Colwyn Bay.
