An impressive 25 bronze medals were also won by the successful cohort, in a whole variety of categories including Performing Arts, Plastering, Renewable Energy, and Vehicle Body Repair.

A number of the Skills Competition Wales finals were held across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's campuses, where competitors from across the country came together to participate in the challenges and tasks.

Skills Competition Wales aims to raise the profile of skills in Wales and offers students, trainees, and apprentices in Wales a chance to challenge, benchmark and raise their skills by taking part in competitions across a range of sectors.

Funded by the Welsh Government and run by a dedicated network of colleges, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations, it consists of a series of local skills competitions, aligned to WorldSkills and the needs of the Welsh economy.

Aled Jones-Griffith, Chief Executive at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our learners and apprentices for demonstrating their skills at such a high level and achieving such success”

“These results reflect not only the dedication and talent of our learners, but also the exceptional support, guidance and expertise of our tutors, assessors and industry partners, who play a vital role in helping them reach their full potential.

“Competitions like these are about more than medals, they build confidence, raise aspirations and prepare our learners for successful careers in a wide range of industries.

The skills being displayed and excelled in by our talented learners are exactly those that will be in high demand across the region over the next decade, particularly as major infrastructure projects such as the Anglesey Freeport, AI Growth Zone, Awel y Môr and Wylfa continue to be developed and delivered.

“We look forward to seeing many of our medalists progress to the next stage and continue to represent Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, and potentially Wales, on an even bigger stage in the future.”
