Colwyn Bay and the North Wales coast is set for high levels of rain and possibly flooding during the next 24 hours according to weather forecasts today.

From midday on Saturday through to the early hours of Sunday, the area is expected to experience heavy showers some which will may cause localised flooding in some parts.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for the whole of Wales and a yellow rain warning for parts of North West England. An amber warning describes flood conditions which could 'cause danger to life'.

It is anticipated that many areas could see up to 2 inches of rain with up to 4 inches of rain on higher ground.

Residents in flood hit areas including those down the Conwy Valley who have been impacted by a significant number of floods in recent years, are been told to check the forecast across the weekend and be aware of rising water levels particularly round river and drain outlets.
