Firefighters are fighting a blaze on Cwm Mountain mountain near to the Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno.

Multiple fire crews have been on the scene since early afternoon and although the size of the fire is unknown, photos on social media, suggest that this could be a large incident.

Smoke has been spotted from Conwy and as far away as Colwyn Bay and there are uncomfirmed reports that power cables may have been damaged as result of the fire.

North Wales Fire have thanked residents for calling in reports of the fire and has said that no other reports are needed.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue said: "We have two appliances from Llandudno, two from Colwyn Bay, one from Denbigh, Bangor, Prestatyn, Holywell and Rhyl and two wildfire units from Abergele in attendance.

"Please stay away from the area and we are asking people in the Llandudno area to close windows and doors especially residents on Ffordd Maenan and Bodnant."
