Janet Finch-Saunders, MS for Aberconwy has criticised the Welsh Ambulance Transport Service for frequent last-minute cancellations, causing patients in Aberconwy and North Wales to miss appointments and vital treatments.
Mrs. Finch-Saunders claims that a lack of drivers and hospital space are held up as reasons for the cancellations.
“I am deeply concerned by the continued reports from my constituents about the Welsh Ambulance Transport Service letting them down, with some missing crucial appointments due to a lack of transport for cardiology issues and other potentially life-threatening conditions.
“This is completely unacceptable and adds to the significant stress and anxiety many patients are already facing. It is well known that many people, including the elderly, rely solely on the Welsh Ambulance Transport Service to attend their appointments.
"These last-minute cancellations leave patients distressed and unable to attend, resulting in missed appointments and wasted opportunities for others who could have used the slot.
“The Welsh Ambulance Transport Service is clearly disorganised when it comes to cancellations, and serious questions must be asked and addressed regarding the failings of this essential service.”
