Racism, hate and discrimination workshop open to local groups

Race Equality First has 40 years of experience as a recognised lead body for tackling hate crime and discrimination and through their consultancy work, casework service and advocacy and training projects.

They have been active in North Wales for many years and help everyone in our communities seek equality, safety and fairness. Now they are offering local organisations the opportunity to know more about the issues which sadly still impacts on many people in our society.

The organisation was established to promote and campaign for a society where all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race or any other personal characteristic they may possess.

They provide support, advice, leadership and an influential voice for people who face discrimination, harassment, hate crime and disadvantage.

They have also been active at working towards the elimination of racial discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and fostering good relations between persons of different racial groups.

Through funding from Welsh Government they are now able to deliver free Racism Awareness, Hate Crime and Discrimination workshops to community groups to educate and empower people to know;

- Your rights in the UK
- What constitutes discrimination and hate crime
- To understand the impact hate has on people’s lives
- How to address incidents of hate and discrimination

This workshop will be held remotely via Zoom on Thursday October 1st from 10am to 12 noon.

As a community or third sector group or organisation, you can register your free place by completing the online form by Thursday 24th September.

The lead contact name on the project is Conwy Voluntary Services Council's Jan Smith.
