Unacceptable littering and parking blights weekend

North Wales Police and the Snowdonia National Park have reacted angrily to reports over the weekend of unacceptable amounts of litter and irresponsible behaviour of visitors in the area.

This morning, national media was full of images from around the Pen-y-Pass area of Snowdon which saw many motorists fined for irresponsibly parking their cars in such as way that emergency vehicles and other motorists were unable to pass along the roads.

Over the weekend more than 500 cars parked on roads along with people camping in laybys.

Photographs of visiting motorcyclists blocking the entrance to the lifeboat station in Barmouth have also been circulated.

And locally in Llandudno, North Wales Police reported another weekend of problems with littering including scenes from the Great Orme showing rubbish dumped in a beauty spot.

A spokeperson for North Wales Police said: "A number of complaints received today in relation to families leaving large amounts of rubbish on The Great Orme.

"This litter has now been cleaned up by officers. Please take you rubbish home, this is unacceptable."
