Wales sizzles in record-breaking bank holiday heat

Wales has experienced its hottest August bank holiday ever, with Hawarden in North East Wales reaching a record-breaking temperature of 29.6C.

The Met Office predicts a wet and windy turn from the remnants of Hurricane Erin hitting Northern Ireland on Tuesday, and North West Wales on Wednesday.

Temperatures on the North Wales coast are expected to drop to 20C with rain showers and moderate winds across most of the day.

Experts say this summer is on track to be one of the hottest in UK history with four heatwaves declared.
