North Wales Police and communities across Old Colwyn have appealled for information after a badly treated dog, which was later put down, was abandoned in the Cwm Teg area on Saturday night.

According to reports from the Protection of Animal in Wales Society, the Husky which was left abandoned by the side of the road following being ejected from a car, was treated by an emergency team from Pritchards Veternary Centre.

After the dog's condition worsened overnight and x-rays revealed a series of sickening injuries, vets had no option other than put the animal out of its misery.

A spokesperson for the charity said how devastated they were when the dog was discovered in such condition.

"When we left last night they were as stable and as comfortable as they could have been but unfortunately this morning their condition had worsened, with their lungs refilling with fluid making its very hard and distressing to breath, the x-rays identifying multiple broken bones, both new and historic, large tumors, aggravated skin and advanced spondylosis in their spine.

"The vets advised us that the only option now left was to end their suffering humanely, the injuries were just too great and they'd been left in such a poor, skeletal condition for just too long.

"Our focus and energy shall now fully turn to the police investigation. We shall do all we can to see that justice is brought. We will keep everyone updated as and when we are able to do so, but for now we ask that everyone respects the police instruction which is to not speculate or share any social media posts regarding this incident whilst they carry out their work.

"We know its frustrating, believe us, but we don't want to compromise their findings in any way.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for all of the offers of help and support."
