Ashleigh overcomes challenges to make top drama school

A Performing Arts student who initially suffered from anxiety which prevented her from getting on the bus to college, has now been accepted into one of the UK's top drama schools.

20-year-old Ashleigh Shanley from Llandudno, is now predicted to achieve one of the highest grades possible on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts course at Coleg Llandrillo's Rhos-on-Sea campus.

Her tutor Jon Crowther explained; "Ashleigh has been with us for four years and started the course with very little confidence and suffered with anxiety.

"The amazing transformation has culminated in her being accepted into one of the top drama schools in Britain. She is a remarkable student and her journey has been a revelation".

Ashleigh will commence a three-year production and stage management course at 'East 15' in Essex in the autumn.

During her school days, Ashleigh was involved in every play and musical, She started as a performer and then moved into the production and design side.

She recently received a distinction for lighting and design at the recent college theatrical production, 'Toad of Toad Hall'.

She said; "I am absolutely thrilled to have been accepted to study at such a prestigious drama school as 'East 15'. It has been a long journey to get to this stage. I really enjoy the technical side of theatre and have always been a grafter".
