Two goals from Dan Atkins led the way as the Seagulls opened the New Year with a 5-0 home win over Mold Alexandra.

Gwion Dafydd, Sol Forde and an own goal were the other Bay scorers in front of a New Year’s Day crowd of 647.

The Bay went ahead after 25 minutes when a cross from Lloyd Marsh-Hughes was swept home by Gwion Dafydd and although Cai Owen volleyed against a post and Atkins volleyed another effort narrowly over the bar, the Bay had to settle for a 1-0 lead at the break.

But Mold could not contain the rampant Seagulls in the second half.

Dan Atkins scored from close range from a good run and cross by Ethan Roberts and then two goals in two minutes put the game out of reach.

Mold defender Dafydd Griffiths scored an own goal with a spectacular diving header from Lloyd Marsh-Hughes’ cross, quickly followed by Atkins netting his second goal of the game from Josh Carey’s through pass.

Sol Forde headed Bay’s fifth from Sam Hart’s corner on 81 minutes and only a brilliant save by Mold’s former Bay keeper Joe Smith prevented a long range missile from Lewis Sirrell making it six.
