Dan Atkins scored the only goal of the game to earn Colwyn Bay another massive three points in the title race as they beat Denbigh Town 1-0 in front of another big Friday night home crowd of 824.

Playing their second game in four days, the Seagulls had to dig in at times to get the result, but a second successive clean sheet was huge with Airbus winning 7-0 against Ruthin to keep up the pressure.

The only goal came after 32 minutes of the fist half when a long ball from Lewis Sirrell found Athan Roberts on the left and he cut inside to set up the chance for Dan Atkins to fire past Denbigh keeper Elijah Beattie.

Earlier Tommy Creamer and Craig Linfield, from a good run and cross by Ethan Roberts, had put efforts over the bar, and Dan Atkins volleyed just wide from 25 yards.

Denbigh, however, finished the half strongly and Owen Davies put an effort just over the bar.

In the second half Alfie Vaughan disposed a Bay defender and drove forward before firing over the bar and Bay keeper Rhys Williams had to save well when Davies cut in from the left and got in a dangerous shot.

Colwyn Bay retaliated with Jamie Cumming heading just over the bar and Dan Atkins bringing a good save out of Beattie with an overhead kick, while Cumming floated another effort just wide.

In a nervy ending keeper Beattie came up for a late Denbigh corner, but Bay managed to clear and hold onto the three points.

The Seagulls stay four points ahead of Airbus, but may need to win both their remaining two league games to be champions as Airbus have a game in hand.
