North Wales Crusaders have signed hooker Harry Swarbrick from Championship club Barrow Raiders ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Swarbrick, who came through the system at Super League club Warrington Wolves and captained the academy side, featured heavily for Barrow early on in the 2021 season.

He’s also spent time with Salford Red Devils and had a short stint in rugby union at Skipton.

The 24-year-old will provide Crusaders with plenty of options as, along with his preferred position at hooker, he can easily slot into a number of other roles.

Swarbrick said: “I’m absolutely buzzing for it.

“It was a good debut year for me with Barrow, but I want to play a bit more regularly so that’s why I opted for a change.

“With how well Crusaders did last season, I was really rooting for them to do well in the play-offs.

“Whenever I’ve played against Crusaders, everyone seemed to pull together.

“There are a lot of clubs in this league with superstars, but Crusaders seems a really good place to be and that’s why I wanted to sign.

“I want to try and establish a permanent spot in the team, see what I can add and learn from some of the experienced players here.

“I hope we can build on the great season the club have had and I can’t wait to get started.

“Like at Barrow, it’ll be great to play in front of a good group of fans and have them right behind you.”
