Colwyn Bay are set to play close rivals Holyhead Hotspur at the 4 Crosses Arena on Saturday and looking to end a run of three successive league defeats.

Holyhead are currently level on points with seventh-placed Seagulls after 12 games, but one place below them in the table on goal difference.

After a difficult start to the campaign, losing three of their opening five games, the Anglesey side come into Saturday’s match unbeaten in their last three games and have lost only once in their last five league fixtures, conceding just four goals.

Seagulls boss Craig Hogg acknowledges his side’s league results have not  been good enough. “We are disappointed with our league position,” said Hoggy.

“We know that results haven’t been good enough – we either win or we lose, that seems to be the pattern for us at the moment (Bay’s only draw this season was at Holyhead in July).

“The performances I’ve been generally pleased with and we have been creating chances in games.

“We’ll always create chances, but I think we’ve lacked a bit of composure at times in front of goal.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, the manager added: “Holyhead’s form coming into the game is good and their manager Darren Garmey is very astute and is setting up a team to get results. They will come here with a lot of belief.

“They will see Saturday as a game they can get a result in, but for us we see it as a big opportunity to get a result on the board and kick on.”

The clubhouse is open from 1pm on Saturday, with hot and cold food and drinks available. Match kick off is at 2.30pm.
