Seagulls boss Steve Evans wants to build on the successes of the past two weeks when, after four successive away games, the Seagulls play their first home game for a month on Saturday, hoping to complete a league double over Penybont.
Alex Downes’ header gave Bay their first league win of the campaign when they travelled to Penybont in September and with no other teams in league action this weekend, another win over the Powys side would lift Bay out of the bottom two.
It would would put them a point ahead of Pontypridd United, whose next game is away to third-in-the-table Newtown on Tuesday.
“We will be looking to build on what has been a great two weeks for us,” says the manager.
“Not just our last two results, but the way in which we have won them.
“The performances have been brilliant. Defensively we have looked solid, our concentration levels have been great and must continue to be if we want to keep moving in the right direction.
“We have also looked dangerous attacking wise. To score three goals last Sunday was very pleasing as we’ve threatened to do so on a number occasions this season, but we haven’t quite managed o find the final pass or the final finish.
“We know we still have a long way to go and will be continuing to work hard to produce the performances which will get us the right results.
“I believe our fitness levels have contributed to our recent results as we have finished both games (against Newtown and Pontypridd) the stronger team.
“We will have to be at our best on Saturday as Penybont is going to be another tough test, but one which we looking forward to.”
Penybont finished third in the Cymru Premier last season and booked their place in this season’s Europa Conference League qualifiers, losing 3-1 on aggregate to FC Santa Columa of Andorra.
After a run of four successive defeats they have recovered their form recently with a vey good 4-2 away win at Caernarfon Town following a 1-1 draw with Newtown.
Evo added: “We can’t wait to be back home in front of the Seagulls fans, as it has been a long month on the road, and we’ll be looking to give them something to cheer about on Saturday.
“See you all there!”
