Bayside Radio is set to launch a new season of programming aimed at helping people across Conwy and the wider North Wales coast look after their health, money and wellbeing during the winter months.
The project — Winter Wellbeing Conversations — will run for 12 weeks and is designed to give residents practical, reassuring and easy-to-find support at a time when many people face increased pressure. The initiative has been made possible thanks to funding support from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, through the Winter Wellbeing Grant.
The season will feature a mix of short radio features, interviews and online resources, providing listeners with information on everything from warm spaces and community groups to budgeting help, transport, mental health support and local events.
Alongside this, Bayside will air a special Five Ways to Wellbeing mini-series, sharing simple tips on staying connected, active and engaged during the darker months, with links to local activities and services people can join close to home.
Each week, Warm Conversations will also give a voice to local residents, volunteers and support workers — sharing real stories and experiences to help reduce isolation and encourage people to seek help when they need it.
Other features will include Try It This Week challenges encouraging gentle activity and social connection, plus Money Matters in Minutes, offering short signposts to advice on bills, housing, employment and financial worries.
To support the broadcasts, Bayside is also building an online Winter Wellbeing Toolkit, bringing together helplines, warm hub listings, crisis support numbers, wellbeing resources and local groups in one easy place on its website.
The campaign is expected to benefit thousands of listeners — especially older residents, carers, families under financial pressure, people living alone and anyone who may not always know where to turn for help.
Bayside Radio says the season reflects its commitment to positive, community-focused broadcasting.
The station added that it was “extremely grateful” to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for supporting the project, helping ensure more people across Conwy can access trusted wellbeing information and friendly local voices when they need them most.
The Winter Wellbeing programming will air across Bayside Radio on DAB+ Digital Radio, online and on smart speakers, with many features also available to catch up on via the station’s website.
Listeners are encouraged to tune in, share the information with friends and neighbours — and make use of the support available over the coming weeks.
