Big crowd expected for Colwyn Bay and Rhyl clash

The Seagulls take their four-match winning run into a challenging top four clash at Rhyl on Saturday for what is undoubtedly the JD Cymru North's Match of the Day. Kick off is at 2.30pm.

Third-placed Rhyl are currently just two points ahead of fourth-place Colwyn Bay, but are on a three-match unbeaten run themselves and are undefeated at home this season (four wins and a draw), including a win against run-away leaders Prestatyn.

Colwyn Bay FC manager Craig Hogg commented: "Rhyl are flying at the moment and I am sure it will be a good game of football. They are a footballing side who like to get the ball down and play like we do.

"They have a good pitch and an excellent set up, and so with two like-minded teams going toe to toe it should be a fascinating game to watch."

Bay defender Daz Thornton added: "These are the games we look forward to playing in, with a good pitch against a footballing side and with what should be a bumper crowd.

"A lot of pitches in these league are big levellers, but here we should be able to get the ball down and play and that is when we are at our best."

It will be the first competitive fixture between the two clubs in 10 years, the last time being when Rhyl won 1-0 at Llanelian Road in a North Wales Coast FA Challenge Cup tie in 2009, and Saturday's game should create plenty of interest.

The Bay expect to have Mike Williams available again after injury but will need late checks on fitness checks on Joe Chaplin and Toby Jones.
