Residents in Rhyl have been putting forward ambitious ideas for the future of the town as plans progress to shape how £20 million of investment could be spent over the next decade.
Around 25 people attended a community discussion at Ffordd Las Community Centre hosted by Clwyd North MP Gill German, where residents shared their priorities for the Pride in Place programme and discussed ways to strengthen the seaside town for local people, businesses and visitors.
The event followed responses to a community survey and forms part of a wider engagement campaign being led by the Our Rhyl / Ein Rhyl Board, which is gathering views from across the town throughout the summer.
Among the suggestions put forward were celebrating Rhyl's rich entertainment heritage through events and heritage trails, creating more family-friendly attractions on the beach, investing further in cultural assets such as the library and museum, supporting schools to promote local history and helping small businesses grow.
Residents also highlighted the importance of ensuring Rhyl continues to develop as a thriving coastal town that provides opportunities for local people while attracting visitors.
The latest discussion comes as momentum continues to build behind the Pride in Place programme, which aims to create a long-term vision for the town and guide investment over the next ten years.
Gill German said she was encouraged by the positive and forward-thinking ideas shared during the event.
"It was fantastic to welcome so many residents to the discussion and hear such a wide range of thoughtful, ambitious and positive ideas for Rhyl's future," she said.
"People spoke passionately about protecting what makes Rhyl special while also looking ahead to new opportunities for families, young people, businesses and our community. Every conversation matters and I'll be feeding all of the ideas back to the Our Rhyl Board as this work continues."
She added that the funding represented a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" and encouraged as many people as possible to take part in the ongoing consultation process.
The discussion followed a successful weekend of engagement at Rhyl Carnival, where board members spoke to hundreds of residents, families, businesses, charities and community groups.
Further engagement events are planned throughout the summer, including at St Mary's Annual Parish Feast, Queen's Market summer markets, Rhyl Miniature Railway celebrations and a range of school, sports club and community events.
Craig Sparrow, Chair of the Our Rhyl Board, said the response from local people had been overwhelmingly positive.
"Whether it's through Gill's community discussion, Rhyl Carnival or conversations at local events, people are telling us they care deeply about the future of their town and want to play a part in shaping it," he said.
The latest engagement builds on more than a year of consultation that has already generated thousands of responses from residents and businesses, helping to shape an emerging vision for Rhyl's future.
Organisers say every conversation will help inform the final plan and ensure investment reflects the aspirations of the people who live, work and spend time in the town.
