Hundreds of hardy fundraisers are expected to brave the icy Irish Sea this Boxing Day as the RNLI Rhyl Festive Dip returns to East Rhyl Beach.
The popular charity event will take place at Rhyl Lifeboat Station, with registration opening at 11am and the mass dip getting underway at 1pm. Participants can sign up on the day or in advance, with all proceeds supporting the lifesaving work of the RNLI.
The RNLI provides a 24-hour search and rescue service around the coast of North Wales, operating lifeboat stations including Rhyl, Llandudno, Conwy, Moelfre and Porthdinllaen. Crews are made up of trained volunteers who respond to emergencies at sea and along the coastline, often in challenging and dangerous conditions.
In addition to rescues, the RNLI plays a vital role in water safety education, helping to prevent accidents before they happen and keeping local communities and visitors safe.
Organisers say the Boxing Day dip is a fun, festive way for the community to give something back, while helping ensure the charity can continue saving lives at sea.
Those taking part are encouraged to raise sponsorship, with donations helping to fund boats, training and essential equipment. Spectators also welcome to come along and support the dippers on the day.
