It was always going to be a tough opening couple of weeks for RGC as soon as the fixtures were released. Two games on the road against Cardiff and Merthyr.

After so long without any rugby, a new coach and a number of players coming up from the Academy, RGC are in that transitional period.

Head Coach Ceri Jones “It will be a big challenge to bounce back after last weekend, as after a good first half we fell away and that is what we have been looking at.  The boys reviewed the game and we have been working on those improvements this week in training.

"We also know it will take a bit of time for the players to adapt to the changes that we are making, so it is about as growing and looking at those improvements game after game.

"Merthyr will be physical, with those threats wide and we know how good they have been over past seasons.  For us it is about putting in a performance that matches the result so we have to take care of our game”

Following the game on Saturday RGC has two home fixtures at Stadium Zip World, Colwyn Bay.

 RGC v Newport – Saturday 2nd October 2.30pm

RGC v Ebbw Vale – Saturday 9th October 5.30pm
