The Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board has joined trade union colleagues to support to a campaign calling for more protection for terminally ill employees.
Together, members of the Board and trade union representatives have signed the TUC’s Dying to Work Charter, which aims to provide support and security, ensuring that terminally ill employees can choose whether to continue working, remain in their jobs, or leave with dignity.
By signing up, employers agree to a number of things to help and protect staff who receive a terminal diagnosis, such as job security, support and dignity, protected service benefits and to raise awareness among staff.
The campaign has gained support from numerous employers across the UK, including large public services and private companies. Many unions have also signed the charter.
