In response to rising cases of Covid-19 in Wales, a local politician has called for clarity should additional measures be needed on businesses.
Following the First Minister’s announcement that protective measures will be strengthened, and that should rates not begin to fall over the next three weeks Ministers may have to consider reintroducing some restrictions, Janet Finch-Saunders MS has asked for clarity as to what business support is planned.
Mrs. Finch-Saunders said: “There is a real risk that the introduction of further restrictions could harm a number of businesses in Aberconwy.
“Whilst the Welsh Government announcement details the welcome news that head teachers will be given extra support to quickly put measures in place in their schools if case rates are high locally, no mention is made of support for businesses.
“We need urgent assurance that should the restrictions being announced today negatively impact on the theatre and cinema in Aberconwy, financial support will be available.
“More so, I urge the First Minister to commit now to outlining what package of support will be offered to businesses should Ministers pursue additional measures in three weeks’ time”.
