Colwyn Bay FC expect a tough test from Gresford

The Seagulls can expect a tough challenge when they play the first of two scheduled home games in four days as Gresford Athletic come to the 4 Crosses Arena on Tuesday (Jan 17th, 7:45pm kick off).

Since losing 2-0 at home to the Bay at the end of November, when a Craig Lindfield penalty and a Lewis Sirrell header provided the goals, Gresford have won three of their four league games played – including away wins at Conwy Borough and Cefn Druids.

Having secured 19-year-old midfielder and former youth team captain Tom Jenkins on loan from Wrexham last week, they also put in a valiant effort before eventually losing 2-0 to Welsh Premier top four side PenyBont in the JD Welsh Cup on Saturday.

After the postponement of Bay’s home game against Penrhyncoch, Steve Evans’ side again have another chance to a set a new JD Cymru North record of 17 consecutive league wins, but they will have to be on top of their game to achieve it.

The incentive is that a win would put them 11 points clear at the top of the table ahead of Holywell’s game at Prestatyn on Wednesday.
