Colwyn Bay boss Craig Hogg has been quick to move into the new transfer window and is delighted to announce two signings from Cymru Premier clubs.

Cai Owen is returning the the Bay after his short spell with Caernarfon Town and he is joined by fellow midfielder and former Ruthin Town captain Ilan Hughes from Aberystwyth Town.

The 27-year-old Hughes joined Aberystwyth last January after being a key player at Ruthin, for whom he famously scored a goal from the half-way line a 4-3 Welsh Cup defeat at Llandudno in 2018. Bay's Toby Jones scored for Llandudno in that game.

The Seagulls signed Cai Owen from Rhyl last January, but he moved to Caernarfon in October (with Bay having not had a game in eight months) in order to start playing football again - but was unable to get a regular start.

Craig Hogg commented: "Cai is well known to Bay fans and I'm pleased he is returning home.

"He is a very good player and one who I felt really improved us when he joined the club during the last January window.

"He is hungry and eager to develop his game further and is a coach's dream to work with.

"Cai has a big future in the game, if he continues to apply himself as he has done, and I'm certain he will do that back here at the Bay.

"Ilan Hughes is another very good addition and I'm very happy we can announce that he will joining the club. He is a forward thinking midfield player and was excellent for Ruthin in seasons gone by.

"As a result of his performances for them he secured the move to Aberystwyth.

"He has been a player of interest to us for some time and he will add a great deal to us. I am pleased and excited to now have the opportunity to work with him."

The manager added: "There are likely to be further player signings during the window and further statements on that will be made in due course."
