The Seagulls need just a point from their final game away to Penrhyncoch next weekend to be crowned JD Cymru North Champions for the second time in three seasons.

They beat neighbours Llandudno 3-0 in a feisty ‘derby’ against Llandudno in front of a crowd of 1,378, the biggest of the season at the 4 Crosses Arena, while main rivals Airbus were held to a 1-1 draw by Mold Alex – with former Bay defender Lucas Gregson heading a late equaliser for Mold.

Colwyn Bay got off to a flying start with two set piece goals in the opening 14 minutes.

Dan Atkins headed the first from Sam Hart’s corner after just three minutes and 11 minutes later Lewis Sirrell stabbed home his first goal of the campaign from another corner.

Dan Atkins put an effort just wide from a good ball by Jay Owen and Josh Carey saw a shot fumbled by the keeper only for a defender to clear, while Callum Stephens and Adam Stephens were both off target with Llandudno chances.

The Bay defended their lead well in the second half as Llandudno tried to get back in the game, and the points were sealed on 70 minutes when Lloyd Marsh-Hughes came off the bench to score Bay’s third after Sol Forde headed on a Jay Owen cross.

Rhys Williams then made a good one-on-one-save to preserve a fourth successive clean sheet.
