After Dan Atkins missed an early chance, heading an Alex Downes cross over the bar, Cardiff Met took the lead on 14 minutes when Sam Jones slotted home from an Elliot Evans pass.

Keeper Joe Smith suffered a worrying shoulder injury but made a couple of big saves before the Seagulls, without the in-form Matty Hill, equalised on 21 minutes when Dan Jones rounded the keeper to score from Alex Downes long pump forward.

Colwyn Bay, who had to replace Adam Mitter after only 18 minutes of his first start, saw an effort cleared off the line before half-time, but they took the lead on 62 minutes when Udi Akpan broke clear one on one and scored off the post.nThe lead, however, lasted only 10 minutes.

Sam Jones equalised at the back post from Kyle McCarthy’s cross and nine minutes later Lewis Rees headed the winner from Elliot Evans’ corner.

Home keeper Alex Lang made a great save in added time from Tom McCready’s free kick to deny the Bay. a last-gasp equaliser and secure his side’s progress to the semi-finals.
