January 05, 2026 - 286 views

A Colwyn Bay home is calling on the support of its community to reach at least 100 cards for a resident's birthday.

Cora Joyce has been living at MHA Coed Craig for 2 and a half years and will be celebrating her 100th birthday on the 2nd of February 2026.

A birthday party with fellow residents and some friends has been planned for her.

To make her birthday extra special the team at the home are asking for members of the local community and beyond to send in or drop off a birthday card for Cora.

MHA Coed Craig provides residential and residential dementia care for 45 people.

Hayley Wiliams, activity coordinator at the home said: “Cora is a very popular lady here at MHA Coed Craig.

“We are planning a special birthday party for her and are hoping for the party to be extra special with the addition of at least 100 cards.

“She will have her friends who are planning to visit her on her birthday and will be part of the party/celebrations.

“So far we have had a good level of interest, and we are confident we will achieve the number of cards we need.

“People can either visit us to drop the cards off or they can post them to us by the 1st of February.

“Cora has full capacity, she is aware of her birthday, and we have told her about the party, but haven't told her about the card appeal.

“We are aware it will be a lovely surprise for her, and one we are sure she will appreciate.”

To contribute towards the homes target, you can visit or post the card to 35 Tan-Y-Bryn Rd, Rhos on Sea, Colwyn Bay LL28 4AD.
