August 10, 2021 - 865 views

Colwyn Bay suffered a second successive home defeat, but had no luck in their 1-2 reverse against Conwy Borough, hitting the crossbar three times in quick succession in the closing minutes after Tom McCready had earlier hit the post.

Conwy got a flying start with a goal in the opening minute by Corrig McGonigle.

The Bay equalised on 22 minutes with George Mannion heading his first goal for the club from Cai Owen's cross, but Conwy were back in front by half-time with a thunderbolt from Sean McCaffery into the bottom corner of the net.

Colwyn Bay had numerous chances in the second half but couldn't find the net, with Conwy keeper Rory Crowther making good saves from Mannion, Llyr Morris (twice) and Danny Edwards. Joe Williams shot narrowly wide and he and Sam Downey both headed off target from other chances.

At the other end Andy Coughlin made a couple of big saves to keep his side in the game.
