Local people from across the Bay of Colwyn will be helped and assisted during the Coronavirus crisis thanks to a new group that has been set up on social media.
The Colwyn Bay Covid-19 Action Network has been set up by Community Project Leads Georgia Colman and Vin Murtagh who represent The Glyn Ward Invest Local group.
The network, which has been quickly set up with support from many local organisations including the Bay of Colwyn Town Council and the Colwyn Chamber of Trade, aims to create a network of people and groups who can quickly mobilise to provide help and advice.
In the last few days many local groups, charities and agencies have met to discuss the impact that Coronavirus will have on the elderly, infirm and vulnerable in the locality. Even in the case of not catching the virus, the stress of self-isolation and social distancing may have a profound effect on many people.
The group aims to co-ordinate resources from local businesses, individuals and volunteers via their Facebook page.
Support offered to the community may include official mental health support and advice phone lines, how to get medication delivered, arranging food deliveries as well as co-ordinating responses to unforseen circumstances and events.
Crucially the network is now seeking volunteers to help and get involved in whatever capacity they can.
If you would like to play a part in the group and potentially help the community during this challenging time, please visit their page and express your interest in getting involved. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2505072983068360/
The Glyn Ward Invest Local group has been set up with the support of the Building Communities Trust and the National Lottery.
The group aims to specifically benefit people living in the Glyn Ward and the wider Bay of Colwyn community by spending £1million on local projects over 10 years. The community in Glyn will decide exactly what the money will be spent on.
