A goal from Matty Hill gave the Seagulls a 1-0 win away to Bala Town in their friendly ahead of next week’s start of Phase 2 in the JD Cymru Premier League.

That should give the team a welcome boost for the challenge ahead, especially after ending Phase 1 with six successive league defeats.

Bala finished phase 1 in third place in the table, so to keep a clean sheet will have pleased manager Steve Evans, even though both sides made numerous changes during the game, including some trialists.

A goalless first half saw both sides have a couple of chances and Bay keeper Joe Smith made a good save shortly before half-time to prevent Bala taking the lead.

The only goal of the game came after 70 minutes when Matty Hill found the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the area.

The Bay start Phase 2 of the campaign at home to Penybont next weekend.
