The Marine Conservation Society and Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders are teaming up for a big beach clean up early next month.
The event, which has been arranged in line with national and local government Covid guidance, will take place on Friday 2 July 2021, between 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The socially distanced group will be meeting at the Cenotaph opposite Llandudno North Shore.
Opening the remaining spaces to the public, Mrs. Finch-Saunders said: “Our community has a proud history of helping each other out. The success of the tourism industry on which much of our economy in Llandudno relies is thanks, in part, to the wonderful work done by our council, volunteers, and hoteliers in keeping our public spaces looking their best.
“This is why I am pleased to open the remaining spaces on my summer beach clean to interested members of the public. By working together, this summer beach clean will be a step in the right direction as we continue to work to protect our coastal habitats.
“According to the Marine Conservation Society, plastic pollution continues to be one of the five main drivers of the current biodiversity crisis. In fact, and most alarmingly, this rubbish threatens around 40% of marine mammals with extinction. As a champion of the local harbour porpoise population, I will continue to work to ensure that this risk is removed.”
