Conwy & Denbighshire has 70% of new COVID-19 in the North

The latest update from Public Health Wales shows that new cases of COVID-19 from North Wales in the past day have been recorded in the Conwy and Denbighshire areas.

Out of the 106 new cases recorded across Wales, 39% have been reported locally with 19 in Conwy and 22 in Denbighshire. This is the second day in a row that Denbighshire has seen a high daily tally.

Within the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area the significance of new cases in Conwy and Denbighshire is highlighted with the two local authorities making up 71% of all new cases in North Wales.

In the past day there have been 7 new deaths, contributing to a total of 1,274 so far.

Dr Giri Shankar, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Social distancing rules remain in effect. Public Health Wales fully supports Welsh Government’s revised stay-at-home regulations.

"The message has not changed - anyone can get Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), anyone can spread it. Stay home, protect the NHS, and save lives."
