National Care Leavers’ Week is the world’s biggest celebration of children and young people with care experience. This year it takes place from 25 to 31 October.

To mark the occasion, the care leavers team at Conwy County Borough Council are organising a week of themed events and launching a brand new website that’s been developed for, and with, care leavers.

Cllr Cheryl Carlisle, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Social Care and Safeguarding explains, “Our role as corporate parents is one of the most important parts of being a Councillor and a role we all take very seriously.

“We want the very best for our young people and we know that the change from being a looked after child to care leaver is significant.  It’s our responsibility to make sure that these young people have the support, care and protection they need.

“We’d like to hear from Conwy care leavers, past and present, to help contribute to the new website and to take part in the week’s activities.  It’ll be an opportunity to be inspired by stories from other young care leavers; pick up practical tips on various topics; take part in activities; and to catch up with personal advisors.”
