With the wintry weather very much evident in North Wales over the Christmas and New Year period, Conwy County Borough Council have thanked their staff for coming to the rescue and ensuring that the county kept moving.

Since Christmas Day, council gritters have driven in excess of 5,700 miles and spread 593 tonnes of rock salt on roads in Conwy.

Cllr Greg Robbins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation said: “Thanks to all our gritting crew for their hard work over the festive period.

"For the second year in a row, this included seeing in the New Year alone in their cabs, gritting the important routes around Conwy.”

As the winter months draw in and rumours about the 'Beast from the East' snow drifts moving in again over the next few weeks, council workers are expected to be busy keeping the us all moving.
