COPS Unity Tour takes on the 2.6 challenge... with a twist!

April 26, 2020 - 1503 views

Today was to be the scheduled date for the 40th London Marathon, a huge event in the charity fundraising calendar.

Thousands of fundraising events across the UK have been cancelled due to Covid-19, with a devastating impact on charity income. In response, the organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to raise vital funds for charities.

The campaign, 'The 2.6 Challenge', launches today, Sunday 26 April, with the public being asked to dream up an activity around the numbers 2 and 6, and fundraise or donate to charity.

This weekend, a select band of officers who would normally be getting out on their bikes and cycling as part of the COPS Unity Tour, will be taking on the #TwoPointSixChallenge from their living rooms!

Led of course by North Wales Police Chief Constable Carl Foulkes, they will be partaking in some 'indoor cycling', and raising money for COPS. He determined that 2.6 miles didn't seem quite enough, so in a slight twist on things, Carl has been in the saddle for a total of 126 miles over the weekend.

This weekend's event is a challenge for all ages and abilities. If you fancy getting involved with the 2.6 challenge, whilst raising funds for COPS, all you need to do is think of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 that suits your skills, and complete it on or from Sunday 26 April.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, to doing 26 minutes of yoga, or juggling for 26 minutes (or maybe just 2.6 minutes) non-stop!
