Safety concerns for people excercising on the promenade near Old Colwyn has prompted Conwy County Borough Council to issue a plea to cyclists today.

Following worries about the width of the pathway due to the work that is being carried out to build up the sea defences, cyclists have been reminded that they must dismount to use the diversion on the pedestrian footpath running along the bottom of the railway embankment.

The council have reiterated that currently the footpath is not suitable for cycling. The diversion is in place to manage the sea defence project and improve the promenade at Splash Point near to the Old Colwyn arches.

Anyone excercising in this vicinity are reminded to observe social distancing and keep 2 metres apart from other cyclists and walkers.
