Councillors favour cutting £1.7m from Conwy schools

February 27, 2020 - 3632 views

Earlier today Conwy indicated that they are in favour of cutting more money from the Conwy Schools budget.

In a meeting of the Financial and Resources Scrutiny Committee the majority of councillors supported a motion to reduce the funding that Conwy schools receive by £1.7 million.

In total 60 Conwy schools may be effected from April 2020.

Details of the meeting comes as a blow to many local schools who faced with a similar situation last year were forced to scale back school activities and in some cases reduce staffing levels.

Parents, pupils and teachers protested at Conwy buildings saying that the situation was at crisis point. Ann Webb Chair of the Conwy Secondary Headteachers said there was little room for any further cuts.
