A sponsored walk organised by Llandudno Junction and Colwyn Bay based Crest Cooperative has boosted funds for the RNLI in Llandudno.

This week Llandudno Lifeboat Chairperson Mike Knowles received the company's generous donation in memory of a much-loved colleague Ralph Higgins.

A sponsored walk held on the 7th of August, marked a year since Ralph sadly passed away.

Ralph worked at Crest for many years and left a great legacy behind with his work ethic, and passion for helping and supporting people in his community. His colleagues at Crest thought it would be a great way of marking the event by doing something positive for the community, by raising money for the Llandudno RNLI.

Rod Williams Managing Director of Crest said, "Crest are proud to support Llandudno RNLI. These brave men and women volunteer their time, and put their lives at risk every day and night throughout the year.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the lifeboat crews up and down the country, and to encourage others to raise money to support the great work they do.

"By volunteering our own time to raise funds, we can all contribute to helping save lives. Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who kindly donated, and to our staff, volunteers, and friends who participated in the sponsored walk".

Mike Knowles Chairperson of Llandudno Lifeboat Station concluded, "Congratulations to the people at Crest for their sponsored walk, in memory of Ralph Higgins.

"I met Ralph several times and can understand why he was such a valued member of your team and how he is so greatly missed. It is so generous of Crest to donate the money raised to the RNLI.

"The total sum of £1,500 is just amazing! Thanks to all who took part in helping us to save lives at sea."
