Tŷ Gobaith and Hope House supporters can now remember their loved ones this winter by dedicating a snowflake to their memory.

One of those who is already donating a snowflake, which will be displayed on a special tree at their hospices, is volunteer Sarah.

Sarah, who has been a volunteer at Hope House since 2017, wanted to do something in memory of her husband Simon, who died in February after a battle with cancer aged 65, leaving Sarah and their three sons Henry, Tristan and William.

“Simon was diagnosed with cancer in April 2023 and had died less than a year later,” said Sarah.

“Having a snowflake in memory of Simon, displayed at home and in the hospice is a really special thing. As a family we can celebrate Simon’s life, as well as helping Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.”

Simon was a well-respected Chartered Surveyor, who was also a keen cyclist and enjoyed spending time with his family.

“He was a lovely and very kind man and his family meant everything to him. He knew a lot about the work of Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith and I think I think he would find being remembered in this way wonderful.

“For us as a family it’s an important way to celebrate Simon’s life and to be able to raise money to support local children and families at the same time is quite special."

For anyone wanting to dedicate a snowflake in memory of their loved one with Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, then the suggested donation is £5. Snowflake dedications made during November will be displayed at the hospices throughout December.

In-memory fundraiser Laura Ellis-Bartlett, said: “We know how important the festive season is for people who want to remember their loved ones.

“These wonderful snowflakes are stainless steel and made by Red Dragon Metal Art based in Cheshire.

“We will have the snowflakes on display at the hospices throughout the festive season, and those that get one can know the money raised in memory of their loved one will be helping us be here for local children and families."
