Last night the community came together to pay tribute to a much loved Colwyn Bay teacher by launching a special memorial charity in her name.

Sadly in September of last year, Delyth Jones who was Head of PE and and Assistant Headteacher at Bryn Elian passed away after suffering from a pulmonary embolisism, a form of blood clot in the lungs.

Friends, family and former pupils gathered at Colwyn Bay Football Club on Monday evening to mark her life and launch the Delyth Wyn Jones Foundation in conjunction with support from the British Heart Foundation.

Yesterday would have been Delyth's 48th birthday and it was a fitting day to mark the launch of the charity.

The foundation will be raising money to help raise awareness of the litte known condition which sadly took Delyth's life and helping supporting young people in their sporting aspirations.

Delyth was a cheerleader for children of all abilities and it is hoped that some who might not persue their love of sport due to financial difficulties will be able to have the chance to take part thanks to the memorial fund.
