North Wales Crusaders will host Sheffield Eagles at Stadiwm Eirias in Colwyn Bay at 1.30pm on Saturday, March 12.

After knocking out community club Leigh Miners Rangers in the second round, Crusaders were given a difficult trip to League 1 favourites Swinton Lions, but they produced an outstanding defensive display to run out 20-14 winners.

Anthony Murray’s men have now been rewarded for their 30-8 victory over Hunslet in the last round with a home tie against Championship club Sheffield, who produced one of the greatest Challenge Cup upsets of all time as they beat Wigan Warriors at Wembley in 1998.

North Wales are the only remaining Welsh or League 1 side left in the competition and will be flying the flag for both their country and the third tier.

Crusaders chief executive Andy Moulsdale said: “It’s fantastic for us to be playing a side that have won the competition in the past and produced arguably one of the greatest shocks the sport has ever seen.

“The lads have been on a great cup run so far and it’d be great to see our fans across North Wales and beyond get behind us.

“We’re the only League 1 club left in the Challenge Cup and we’ve got past some big challenges already, with difficult ties against both Swinton and Hunslet.

“We made a lot of progress both on and off the field in 2021, with crowds increasing significantly, and we want to build on that this season.

“I know your support makes all the difference to Muzza, the rest of the coaching staff and the lads.”

Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £10 for concessions, with U16s going free.
