Llandudno's coastguard have reported another busy weekend on the coast and reiterated warnings about checking tide times and sea conditions.

"We were tasked shortly before 22:00 on Saturday along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of 4 people and a dog trapped on a cliff near Llandudno Pier.

"The family had been walking along the beach when they became cut off by the tide and had no option but to scramble the cliff face to avoid the rapidly rising tide.

"When we arrived at the scene, we assesed the scene and found that a rope rescue would be possible but difficult. However, they had become trapped near a concrete retaining wall which would allow a stable platform for a ladder to be lowered.

"We requested the assistance of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru who sent a fire appliance and who were able to lower a ladder to rescue the 4 persons and a dog. With no injuries, we offered them safety advice.

"To avoid getting caught out by the tide, check the weather and tide times before going out. Also avoid slippery and unstable rocks, take notice of signs, don’t climb up cliffs and be careful in sea caves so you don’t get trapped."

If you do get into difficulty, or spot someone in trouble at sea or on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
