After 90 years in the town, the long-established and much-loved Conwy Comrades Club is sadly closing next week due to financial difficulties.

The decision was made after two special meetings in April and June.

A statement from the club explains: "It is with deep sadness that we must announce that Conwy Comrades Club will cease trading sometime next week.

"This has not been a decision made by the committee, it’s a situation forced upon them, owing to the club’s inability to meet its financial obligations; and it comes with heavy hearts.

"We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported the club over the years — your loyalty, time, and friendship have meant the world to us.

"The staff would like to thank you all personally, and we plan to have one last night to celebrate the last 90 years, day and date to be confirmed.

"Although this chapter is coming to a close, we’re incredibly proud of the community we’ve been part of."

Sadly staff have been laid off and volunteers will now run the club until a final Extraordinary General Meeting is held on July 24th to discuss the future of the premises.
