North Wales Fire and Rescue made an important appeal to nearby residents after a fire broke out last night at a recycling centre in Abergele.

Firefighters attended the blaze at the Thorncliffe Recycling Centre, and the message to keep doors and windows closed was issued just after 8pm.

Six fire appliances, from as far away as Wrexham, were on the scene until 5am this morning.

North Wales Fire and Rescue confirmed that the fire took hold in mixed recyclable material but say the actual cause of the fire is still yet unknown.
