Firm behind respected Junction coffee house wound up

Coffee lovers from right across Conwy have been disappointed to hear that the company behind one the most respected coffee houses in the area has been wound up.

Providero in Llandudno Junction and Llandudno was owned by Jon and Ellie Hughes who began trading after a chance conversation with the owners of Enoch's fish and chip restaurant saw them open up their first coffee house with assistance from a crowdfunding campaign.

A few years later the company expanded to open up a second, much larger shop at the top of Mostyn Street in Llandudno, partially with more cash support from supporters.

However according to the Gazette which records details of companies that have passed a resolution to voluntarily wind up, Providero completed the process to liqidate on January 22nd.

The legal notice reads:

"At a General Meeting of the above-named Company, duly convened and held at Parkin S Booth & Co, Yorkshire House 18 Chapel Street Liverpool L3 9AG on 10 January 2020, the following Resolutions were passed as a Special Resolution and Ordinary Resolution respectively.

“That the Company (Providero Limited) be wound up voluntarily” and “that John P Fisher and Ian C Brown of Parkin S Booth & Co, Yorkshire House 18 Chapel Street Liverpool L3 9AG be appointed Joint Liquidators of the Company, and that they act either jointly or separately.”

It is believed that both cafes are continuing to trade under new owners who have retained the Providero name.
