Wales' First Minister Eluned Morgan has announced plans to reform the Welsh NHS, with a focus on reducing long waiting lists.

The newly appointed Health Secretary, Jeremy Miles, will receive support from all Welsh ministers in addressing NHS issues.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has warned that the NHS in England is in a critical condition and needs to undergo reform.

In a damning report from Lord Darzi it was found that the NHS is “in serious trouble”.

The rapid review, completed in nine weeks, diagnoses the problems in the NHS and sets out themes for the Government to incorporate into a 10-year plan for reforming the health service.

The study argues the NHS is facing rising demand for care as people live longer in ill health, coupled with low productivity in hospitals and poor staff morale.

The First Minister stated that the priority in Wales is to invest in primary care and digital services while also tackling the record high waiting lists.
